Scythe Book Review

Scythe Book Review

Zak Bockhop, Reporter

Scythe is a book set in a dystopian world.  They have cured death. Doesn’t that sound great?  It isn’t. The world doesn’t have an unlimited amount of resources.  The solution the world came up with was, a group of individuals that went around the world and killed at random.  This is to keep the world population from rising too high. These people are called Scythes. However, some scythes may be corrupt.  There is also an artificial intelligence that controls the world! Weird right?

There are two main characters, Citra and Rowan.  They are both selected to become scythes.  However, only one of them will become a scythe.  Ultimately the conflict of the book revolves around the clashing of different ideals. The two main opposing factions are the Old Guard and The New Guard.  I’ll let you decide which one is the good one.

Ultimately, this book is an action adventure with a lot of science fiction.  If that does not peak your interest then you might not like it. In my opinion, this may be my favorite book.  This book is a part of a trilogy and the third book comes out on November 5, 2019.
