Eragon Book Review

Eragon Book Review

Author: Christopher Paolini

Eragon is a book set in a fantasy world.  It shares a likeness with the Lord of the Rings.  Much like the Lord of the Rings there are humans, dwarves, and elves.  This world also contain many other creatures, like and especially, dragons.  Dragons are heavily focused on and play an integral part in the story. The world of Eragon contain so much lore I couldn’t possibly tell you everything you need to know going in.  I will try my best to get you interested.

Eragon is a 15 year old boy who lives in a small village working on a farm.  However, his fate is not to be a farm boy but a Dragon Rider. Whether it be luck or fate Eragon stumbles upon a dragon egg.  He believes he will be able to keep the dragon hidden. However, unforeseen circumstances force him to partake on a journey of vengeance.  He leaves his village with an old storyteller named Brom who is very mysterious. He is equipped with a gifted ancient sword, a mighty dragon, and brilliant advice from Brom the storyteller.  Eragon will soon enter the world of magic, glory, and power. His choices will soon decide the fate of the Empire.

Eragon has become one of my all time favorite books.  The book doesn’t jump a massive amount of time between important events.  Instead the author cleverly filled the journey with very interesting stories.  The continent that Eragon takes place on is Alagaesia and it is chock full of lore.  Every time you think you know all the important stories you read about a new one. Every detail you can think of has been fleshed out.  The author also added a language or two! Even after you finish reading the book their are still so many stories left for the world of Alagaesia to tell.  Eragon is the first book in a cycle of four. They are definitely worth your time.
